Millennials like socialism - until they get jobs

Recommended Posts

I make pretty decent money and while I hate taxes like everyone else, I don't feel totally screwed over once I get my refund. California, in particular, isn't as horrible as people make it out to be.

phil, is that federal or state you get a refund on?  I don't remember what one of those look like. I did find another accountant who with all things being equal shows me owing about $3k less each time.

Had one C.P.A. show me owing $4800 and charged me $900 fee.  Nothing had changed and used another the next year showing me owing $880 and charged $380.  Thanks Obama.

I think I typically pay about $4,500 in CA tax. Since far more gets taken out from my paychecks throughout the year, I get a nice refund.

Next year is going to kill me though. Because it's my first year at the firm, they won't pay my bonus until next January. Then, they will pay my 2017 bonus at the end of December.

"You pay $4500 in state tax alone? You must make a million dollars!"

-AJ

I think I paid about $25,000 in income and social security taxes last year. It sucks, but I guess I figure if my taxes went way down, inflation would probably go way up, and my spending power would be the same.

Ya phil, when I was in California and did a state return I usually got money back.

Now back to the issue at hand.  I have millennials in my family and their friends, etc. who are all gainfully employed, no govt. handouts and do realize you need to be employed to survive.  They support Bernie so it isn't all about freeloading. Could be the other choices of Hillary and a GOP that pretty much should no longer be considered legitimate, they are jumping on the Bernie bandwagon.  I have to look at it myself but really am not interested.

If Trump can show me he will be the demise of the GOP party as it currently functions, then I may hedge my bets. I know Dems. are no better but at least the stuff they fabricate makes them look like they are trying to run a government.  GOP, just what is it they do?

This is just my two cents coming from Millennials I know who are being called freeloaders. To the cons disgust, they all have jobs.

California really sucks if you're a small business owner. My dad has a small business, and the taxes are insane.

For everyone ragging on Sanders: who are you voting for?

Looking forward to a bunch of "none of the above" responses.

Edited to add: if you're not voting then which of the final candidates do you want to win? Again,"none of the above" isn't an option. One of these people is gonna be our president. Which one is your choice?

It's what I don't get.  I don't vote anyway but all the freeloaders are going to tax me 99%.  There is something I guess I just miss there.

Ive been a registered libertarian for 8 years now and I'll be voting for Johnson. CNN actually included him in a poll the other day and racked in 11%. If the republicans decide to have a brokered convention and blow up their party I can see a lot of people joining us libertarians.
