Sanders wins NH by 20 points; Leaves with the same number of delegates as Hillary

Recommended Posts

Dems fancy themselves as the party that wants every vote to count.  I guess they just want some to count more than others.

I would feel bad for The Bern on this, but the operating principle seems right up his alley.

Yeah, its bullshit and in some sense just proves Bernie's point: he earned a 15-9 delegate win, she politicked at least 6 of 8 superdelegates.

But remember that superdelegates aren't set in stone until the Democratic Convention. Hillary had a huge edge over Obama at this point in superdelegates, but a lot of them changed by the time the convention rolled around.

But imagine the shytstorm if this nomination is decided by superdelegates. So much for "government by the people, for the people."

Democratic party put a large superdelegate pool in place after McGovern and Carter, give the establishment more of a say on who the nominee is. Needs to go away, or at least brought back to a level where it doesn't take on such a large role in the nomination process.

A lot of this is really just talk right now anyways. If Sanders can hang through early March primary and put up good numbers than there is an interesting nomination fight. If he gets blown out, the super delegate talk gets ignored until the next nomination cycle.

What I don't get is the Democratic party letting the south have so much say on it's nomination process. Why the hell is Super Tuesday tied to all these southern states that don't vote Democratic anyways. They should be aligning the nomination votes with regions that better reflect where the party is going. I think that's a big issue for the Republicans as well. Guys like Kasich, who is probably the best general election candidate for the Republicans, are going to be lucky if they survive the swing through the south.
