I haven't seen Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List recent enough to comfortably put among my Top movies for him.

 

I just saw SPR over the weekend on HBO. Hadn't seen it in about 5 years, I'd guess. It really is great. Actually better than I remembered. The non-combat scenes are terrific.

Can't believe Hanks didn't win the Oscar for that performance in SPR.

 

Some heartreaking scenes in that movie.  

 

Great movie to remind everyone how horribly awful war is.

I'm a pretty young guy and my only viewings of both Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan was when I was still in High School, but before I became interested in movies. I remember liking both a lot but I was only 16ish and feel I'd have to revisit both of them. I picked up the recent Schindler's List Blu-ray release so I'll have to do that one soon

Neither are easy movies to watch.  Both are wonderful movies though, Spielberg used black and white so very well in SL.

He has done so many of my personal favorite movies, I was close to putting Catch Me if you Can, Hook, 1941, The Last Crusade or the Amazing Stories episode called "The Mission".
