As the the ball reaches home plate it is fully ensnared in the gravitational pull and enters a low orbit around the him. Around this stage the ball has exceeded the speed of light and according to Einstein's theory of relativity begins to proceed backwards through time. As the ball finishes its simi-orbit it gets sling shot back towards the mound around the beginning of the inning knocking the unsuspecting pitcher throwing warmups out.
