I can't find it, but someone just needs to post that pic from the press conference with Scioscia at the podium, and the four horsemen of the apocalypse behind him standing there staring into space

You mean the classic photo of Dipoto's folly?

While he was an a-hole, Mo Vaughn was a pretty good player here.

Jeff Juden always bothered me a lot.

Exactly.

For those with selecive memories, Mo had an ops of .865 in his 2 seasons here.

He also hit 69 HRs and had 51 2Bs. His obp was .362

In the steroid era those numbers dont look as good. .865 OPS is more like a .765 OPS. 30 home runs in a season was more like 17 home runs. Gotta adjust for inflation.

We all know offense was way up during those years, but I decided to take a look at just how much. 45 players hit 30 or more HRs in 1999(Vaughns first year here) and 13 of those players hit 40 or more. Last year there were 11 players that hit 30 or more and one at 40. That's just insane. I miss the steroid era.

Yeah those are pretty staggering numbers.  Back in the days a 20 home run guy was your run of the mill cheap pickup in the free agent market.
