Orange County names

while my wife was pregnant and before we knew what we were having, one of the boys name we strongly considered was Tanner. we had a really, really difficult time trying to decide on a boys name because of me being a teacher - it was too easy to associate different kids with different names, and neither of us wanted to think of some troublemaker every time we mentioned our kids' name. We automatically decided we would not use any boys name that began with the letter "J" (john, jordan, jonathan, jason, etc.). nothing but trouble in that group.

When my wife was pregnant with our son, I wanted to name him Opie (Andy Griffith Show). She said no. We did get to name the dog Opie. The boy is Finn, which is becoming more popular.

When we found our second was a girl, Eliza was pretty much decided right a way.

Some of these names border on cruel and unusual punishment.  They waste like a thousand hours of their lives correcting the spelling or pronunciation of their names.

Xander spelled as Zandar.

Asher spelled as Asser.

Jackson pronounced as Jacks Off.

Bailey confused for Hailey.

my first year of teaching, my very first day, i'm calling roll for one of the 9th grade classes. i called one girl sharon, even though it was spelled charon. she looked up at me and said "it's sha-RON!" like i was supposed to know that.

My wife and I had the same problem Tank. Thankfully, she taught in the inner city, so her students were named Thunderhawk, Mysondavid, Reggie and Reginald (twins), Brandy and Tanqueray (also twins), and my personal favorite: Umajesty.
