Dipoto is getting lucky because his most productive players right now are also his least expensive, by far!

Trout, Trumbo, Richards, Bourjos. Eventually these guys are going to get paid, it just won't be by the Angels because they've been saddled with huge long term, back loaded contracts.

I, for one, can't wait to watch Albert in 2020 (sarcasm ON)

Even if the Angels never turn it around completely, they're still not going to finish anywhere near getting the #1 draft pick. The Marlins are bad, and I mean really bad - especially with Stanton out. Look at their lineup and pitching staff - their next best hitter after Stanton is 31-year old minor league journeyman Justin Ruggiano. They're the only two players with OPS over .650 (!) - and neither is hitting all that well (both in the lower .700s).

*Tentative. Houston is all but certainly headed to a loss down 12-1 to the Tigers:

With a three game set in Houston starting on Monday, Angels have a chance to crack the top spot by week's end.

CWS and SD swap places in the standings. Dodgers and Rays now tied for the 10th spot. Dodgers would receive the protected pick as tiebreaker is previous year's standings.
