Top Three Bill Murray Movies

Mediocre films with Robert De Niro are still mediocre and not The Deer Hunter, Raging Bull or Taxi Driver.

How many times you watch a film for an actors performance is what you think is his best work. Enduring a dull film just because the guy stepped out of his usual role doesn't mean it makes it a film worth watching over and over. Case in point De Niro in low budget comedies.

 

Who is talking about watching movies over and over, but you?

 

While I'm sure people are simply listing movies they like with him in it, a few of us are talking about his roles, characters, and impact he individually had in films.

Glad to see someone else mentioned Kingpin because I know it's not one of his biggest or more well known roles but he kills it as Big Ern.  I think he has other roles that are better and have more to them but the Big Ern character is one of my favorite characters in any movie.

Lost in Translation is probably the most boring movie I have ever seen.  It didn't do much for me.

 

Stripes on the other hand is one of my all time favorites.

I might need to watch Moonrise Kingdom tonight. I liked that movie a lot. Bill Murray is pretty great in all the Wes Anderson movies.

I'll never understand the love for Life Aquatic.

Most people don't. Even among Wes Anderson fans, it's usually considered one of his worst.

 

I love the movie though.

I was the Captain of a Tallship when Life Aquatic came out. I also had loads of friends that worked on Research Vessels, so I had a connection to the nautical theme.

 

Besides, I loved the way Anderson used Seu Jorge to tie the whole film together. I loved watching the audience reactions when they realized it was all David Bowie music

He elevates everything he appears in, so it's hard to just pick three..

 

1. Meatballs-  I think this is the one that got my attention, much like how I knew Tom Hanks was gonna be a huge star after Bachelor Party..

2. Caddyshack-  He steals this movie.  His lines get the most quotes.

3. Stripes-  I think this one was my first movie-party with my buddies, wayy back when cable first started showing R-rated movies during the day.

 

My favorite thing about Bill, is that I haven't even seen ALL his movies yet!
