I think Major League Baseball should just cease to exist when he retires.

haha. For real.

baseball is meaningless without Jeter. Those other thousands of other players who have played the game are just witnesses to 2's greatness

Also pretty funny that the guy with the Bryce Harper avatar makes this thread. Yeah you haven't bought into the hype machine at all.

aren't you also a lebron James, johny manziel, and Tom Brady fan? Hmm.

Get over it guys. He is going to retire with about 3500 hits or to be that in perspective 1100 more hits than GA, our best hitter to date. He has won a few championships and has been the captain of the most historic franchise in American sports history. You guys all get pissed off when the Tigers fans spout off about Trout. How is this any different?

Im with strad on this one. Jeter may be a little overrated in terms of overall value (mediocre power, not as good glove wise as some think). But he was a hell of a contact hitter, has a phone book sized list of clutch moments, and always carried himself like a good guy.

5th all time in hits is pretty rad. Imagine if wahlberg never kneecapped him. He could be 3rd

Dude was the captain of the most revered franchise, he has 3400+ hits and played with only one team for a 20 year career.  He was a fan favorite and never a douche.  Nothing wrong with it at all.  Hopefully we see the same thing for Mike Trout in 17 years.

um, probably cause trout is twice the player Jeter is.

Ill tell you what id like to see. Id like to see a farewell jeter tour with all the after game conquests he made. Like panties made out of clam chowder from the girls at the boston hooters. Bbq panties from the bars near arlington etc. A calendar of the famous girls he tagged, so on and so on

Yeah, he is a great player. But even great players don't deserve the constant ass kissing he gets from Fox and ESPN. It's constant. Even during broadcasts of games he's not playing in.

I hope I can get over this feeling by the inevitable time that Trout "becomes the new Jeter" and has Joe Buck pitching a tent at the idea that a conversation can turn to Trout. But mostly I just hope I don't turn into a fan like the Yankees fans who actually think Jeter deserved to play in the all star game.

Lmao when the crowd mic picked up some dude chanting OVERRATED as the DEREK JETER chant died down.

Lol. I caught that too. And then literally a second later Jeter hit the double. Shut that guy up real quick.

Trust me, if he's still on the Angels at the end of his career you'll find a way to get over that feeling.

I little too much Jeter for my liking. Although, he did deserve to start the All-Star game. He was voted in by the fans, enough said. He also didn't disappoint on the field and at the plate.

I'm pissed that Aybar didn't get to replace him.
