Would Rays trade Maddon for Scioscia?

Recommended Posts

And somehow work Price into the deal? :D

Maddon is a MS clone, I live in FL, watch TB games on a daily basis, the only real difference is the quality of the post game comments.   I mean it's great that Maddon will do crap like get a Seminole medicine man to come bless the clubhouse but most of that crap has as big an impact on winning as a wet fart.

keep in mind maddon is working from a talent deficiency, much like the A's. they pull out all the lineup tricks out of necessity. the key to a good manager is pitching management, judge maddon and scioscia however you like on those standards. also, maybe the best manager in baseball right now by those standards is bruce bochy.

I'd like to lump Dipoto in as a throw in to any Scioscia trade. Unfortunately, the most we'd probably get in return for Scioscia and Dipoto is Towers and Gibson from the DBags :(

Absolutely, without question I do NOT want Gibson as the Angels manager.

Towers could potentially be worse than Reagins. His recent track record is truly horrific.

If this team were to target someone with a bad ass streak to manage I would hope it would be Chili Davis.  He's never managed, so he would need a strong bench coach but that dude will make one hell of a manager one day.  For eons I wanted him to be our hitting instructor, finally Oakland hires him and he pretty much transforms their offense.

Tim Salmon, Erstad, Edmonds, Garret Anderson, Langston, Finley, and even Disar have all spoken in damn near reverent tones about Chili Davis and the impact he had on other players.

I'd still take Maddon over Scioscia, but the guy I'd rather take over both, is the Rays bench coach, Dave Martinez.

Who did TB lose from last year's team?

Don't tell the posters on the GameDay Thread that pitching management is the most important thing.  They believe it's how you place players on a lineup card.
