LOS ANGELES KINGS WESTERN CONF. FINALS THREAD

The only real luck that I saw during the Kings Cup win was in game 7 of the finals when Jared Staal should have been called for a penalty prior to the five minute major penalty that was called against the Devils. That led to three goals... and then of course the refs literally getting in the way of another goal. That said, it doesn't take anything away from what they accomplished. Although we'll never know for certain how things would have turned out, I think the Kings probably win anyways. They looked like the better team for most of that series. Plus they deserve credit for capitalizing on those opportunities.

Luck? Like getting to face an underwhelming Ottawa team in the finals?

He always feels a need to phrase it that way. Might be forgetting they went 3-0 in all four series that year.

They matured as a team that year. They saw what they could do when everyone played their best.

The Kings are going to play a solid game tomorrow night. If they can get back to shutting down Kane and play their game, they'll be okay and advance.

No team has won three game 7s in one playoff year. The Kings will be playing their third one this year, all on the road. Toronto (93) and Colorado (02) played 21 games in the first three rounds but didn't reach the finals.

It'll be quite an accomplishment to defeat San Jose, Anaheim, and Chicago.

Game 7 tonight. Nothing to lose mentality. We're on the road yet again and major underdogs. Let's make some history. GKG

"For those who care about these wacky numbers, here ya go.

The Blackhawks are 13-0 in Games 5-7 over the last two postseasons. They’re 5-0 when facing elimination.

The Los Angeles Kings are 6-0 when facing elimination this spring alone and 2-0 in road Game 7s. And the 19 Kings expected to play Sunday are a combined 64-2 in Game 7s in their careers. Justin Williams, Marian Gaborik and Mike Richards each are 6-0 in Game 7s, and Williams has six goals and six assists in those six games."

Crazy. Somethings gotta give right? Both Chicago and LA have been great in late series games

geez -- we're the aggressors on offense but not getting the breaks......bad bounce has us down 3 to 2.

looked like a bad goal at first, but bad bounce.

can't pull Quick -- gotta dance with the one that brung ya........

this is gonna be a war -- we have to be ahead of the Hawks in this game heading into the third period........

we're just not getting the breaks..........

they've done a good job of keeping play in the chicago zone. not much you can do about bad bounces.

keep the pressure on and tighten up the defense in your zone. it should be enough.

the hand-eye coordination by jeff carter is a thing of beauty.

Agree Tank. The offense has shown it can score. This game will rest on the defense and Quick. They have to turn it around soon cause three games in a row is just shitting on our couches at this point. Edited by Kevin

who all thinks this Western Conference Final is really the true Stanley Cup championship round this year?

I gotta believe that either the Blackhawks or the Kings will dispatch the NY Rangers in six games or less.

and the series probably won't be as good as this one is.......

having said that, despite the lead, Hawks offense looked a little sluggish first period -- but they'll recover quickly......they are just too good of a team not to.

Going into the Conference Finals, the Canadians were the top scoring team. Rangers beat them 4-2 by shutting down their offense. Although the Hawks/Kings are going toe to toe, they are giving up wayyyy too many goals. This gives the Rangers a chance to take the Cup. Now if the West Finals were low scoring, then the Rangers wouldn't have stood a chance.
