Dying Vet's Letter to Bush & Cheney

Recommended Posts

One thing to point out is that we were not fighting just Iraqis there. You had terrorists from a good chunk of the middle east to fight americans. For all we know, this guy was wounded by a terrorist not from Iraq.

However this guy could have been shot at by the same terrorist while stationed in Afghanistan or Iraq. Terrorists were going to go to one place or another.

In the end, the war wasn't needed and it's incredibly sad how it turned out. For both sides.

The gist of it is that without 9/11 and the huge swell of enlistments that followed the Iraq war would not have been possible. I think he speaks for many who feel they were duped. It would be pretty tough for anyone to muster an argument that we would not have been farther advanced in the war on terror if they had not sidetracked all those soldiers into going to Iraq.

Imagine all those GIs that signed up to slap that dirty little Jap and ended up in North Africa fighting Germans. The nerve of the military!

I admit to being completely fooled. I didn't understand who was really in charge. I didn't understand their means of manipulation. I didn't understand what was to be gained (and oil was the least of it). Bush and Cheney (and Obama now) are just puppets playing their part. Evil men for certain, but nowhere near the top.

Recently, the CEO and Founder of Blackwater admitted that "...the company became a virtual extension of the CIA."

Here is a video of some Blackwater mercenaries killing a great number of Iraqi men. (starts at about 0:42)

Who are the "bad guys" again? The Iraqi men within their own country who took up weapons against an invader to defend themselves? Or a bunch of contract killers hired to go over to someone else's country and murder some people they don't know and never had a problem with? For a paycheck.

Psychopaths have no empathy for others. Some are born that way, others can learn it but they feel no remorse for having caused pain and death. Even though Bush didn't plan the War he played a large part in it and the eventual deaths of hundreds of thousands. He doesn't sound very remorseful to me:

If more people understood the nature of the power hierarchy that rules this world and the means of manipulation that they use to secure that power then these things wouldn't be possible.

Totally different situation. In WW II we were fighting two enemies on two fronts. In this case we were fighting terrorists on one front and placating one man's ego on the other.

It's not that different really. Think of how many men got recruited based off the emotions following the Pearl Harbor attack, and then got sent to fight Germans who had nothing to do with it. The difference really is that you think the war against Germany was a just cause and Iraq wasn't, but they both got duped. The vast majority of military engagements in our history have not been about national defense, they've been about politics and resources, and think how many people enlisted on the pretense of fighting for freedom and honor and all those other lies. They all fell for it just like this guy did. Anyone who thought that enlisting meant they can control where they get sent off to is a sucker. The US government gives you some pay, benefits, and training, and then you become their indentured servant, subject to all the BS ulterior motives the US government is prone to have. If you sign up to be an indentured servant for the military, and they're meeting all the agreements in the contract you signed, then you have no right to complain about how you are used.

What's different? This is the first time we've ever gone to war with an all volunteer force. In the past the propaganda made it easier. In the present it's impossible to keep up a fighting force without full force marketing. It's going to get even tougher in the future because the duped patriots of this era will discourage their offspring from carrying on the tradition. Therefore, it's pretty likely there will be regular intervals of great evil doings against us to keep them in the recruiting offices.

way to deflect the anger on a day when the messiah passes a 1 trillion tax bump to pay for his platforms...

seriously, neither side has ANY higher moral or ethical ground, i feel for those who actually think they do as their minds are completely closed and made up and there is no discussion on anything.
