Capuano Drops Asking Price

Recommended Posts

I think the Angels are a little too high on Mulder being a starter. He hasn't pitched in 6 years. How in the world would anyone think he is going to be able to go as a starter? If he's serious about a comeback, he needs to spend a year in a bullpen or the minors to get his arm working properly and to be able to take on a major league work load.

I can only imagine how well the ball must be coming out of his hand.

Whoever they bring in, it only needs to be for a year.

I do believe that Weaver/Wilson/Richards/Santiago/Skaggs will be a solid rotation by 2015.

Maybe they would still need a decent utility guy in 2015, in case Skaggs can only get to 170 innings by 2015.

They don't need to sign anyone for beyond 2014 at this point.

i have to think there is a reason they signed him.. the scouted him ,saw him throw... i dont think they are using thr force here.

are they counting on it.. i dont think so but i do think they saw something to indicate it was realistic or they wouldnt have bothered.

I like the idea of Capuano and Arroyo. A ton of depth is a great thing.

i see a lot of Capuano & Arroyo askings

Both those guys are going to want to start, right now we dont have room for 2 unless you assume Richards to be the odd man out of Santiago to the pen  and frankly i think Richards has earned his chance and Santiago appears to be better projected as a starter so... not to mention it makes the Trumbo trade look worse to get a prospect and a reliever... Santiago will be in the rotation.

Capuano for a year at 5 mil or less... ok, i can live with that... though i dont expect much after a 4.2 in the NL and a pitchers park in the Latrine... hes an easy 4.5+ ERA here... definite 5 territory, but not great.

Arroyo, im sorry i cant see paying too much but if were talking about a 2/12 or something like that... ok... its better than letting Blanton back in the rotation but still.. unless he steps up we are still talking about adding another 4 to the rotation.

I guess it comes down to this for me... i would be ok with these if it didnt prevent us from making a run at a legit 3.  Both those guys.. heck even 1 of them and we are very limited to make deals if we are truly limited payroll wise as so many in the fishwrap business say we are.
