To be honest, if there is one thing Dipoto did well it was adding club controlled SP with upside in Skaggs/Heaney/Tropeano. Of course, we can also say he failed there since all 3 needed TJS and we are still waiting for each one of them to give this team a FULL season of starts. He also did originally trade Skaggs away, only to then re-acquire him, so yeah, fuck Dipoto

Dipoto took him away; he was with the dbacks for the first skaggs trade

I blamed the Freese trade on Arte.

Frankly, I don't think I was that far off.  Arte brought in Jerry to complement a philosophy that the big club takes precedence above all else.   But after seeing Jerry's plan in action, maybe everyone realized that it wasn't for them.

Here's an interesting thought.  What if Bill Stoneman was the one chirping in Arte's ear about Jerry's method?  Confidence started to erode and Jerry started to push hard.  Trying to take the clubhouse.  Arte backed others instead of Jerry so he took his ball and went home.

Jerry is essentially taking the same approach with the M's.  Every ounce of currency goes to the major league club.  Even if it's 'younger players'.  He thinks he's making the roster younger, but at the end of the day, he's decimating the depth of the farm.

This was the the classic unbreakup.  You want to end it, but you don't really have a good reason to.  You just know it's not going to work.  So instead of pulling up your big boy pants and doing what you need to, you act disinterested and unsupportive to the point where the other party knows something is wrong and presses you into a decision.  So you finally make it.

We blame the breakup on Scioscia or at least the inability for Jerry and Mike to get along.  But what if ultimately it was about a difference in philosophy.  Jerry left because Arte wouldn't support him.  Or choose his side.  Now we can see that it was the right decision.  One that Arte didn't make by himself.  You don't let your GM walk in the middle of a season if you think you are eventually going to side with his philosophy and methods.

They realized he was wrong for this org.  And they were right.  I hope Seattle take a while long to figure it out.

One thing ill definetely say for dipoto (and ive been one of his apologists anyway) is that regardless of how this all plays out, he has done a very good job of stocking up on upside arms, young cheap depth, and replaced a certain offense with a different one (traditional vs sabr). To do that in roughly 3 years is pretty impressive

What a dumbfuck. Get off the internet, justin, you dont know shit!
