Wind is really beginning to pick up in L.A.  With some sideways rain.  But overall, so far the wind is worse, with little rain.

Long Beach didn't get anything last night, and even now it's still a light rain. But the winds are really kicking up.

Maybe the brunt of this will stay a little to the north. Hoping...

So far all of my amateur irrigation work seems to be working except for one area where the rain comes off the roof in a concentrated stream,  washing away a channel of fill dirt. I had to clear that drain and do some more work but I think I've got it under control. 

I have found out that I have 7 different jackets and not a single fucking one of them is waterproof. Not even the Columbia Ski jacket.

Make sure you clean and thoroughly dry your feet after this. I developed something called chilblains on my feet and toes after spending a half-hour outside on January 22nd trying to sweep the rising waters away from the side of my house. Not fun.

You folks are finally getting a taste  of what we have been doing all winter up here where your water comes from. Just another shitty day in the central sierra...but there is much more wind with this one. I really doubt we will make it much longer before the power goes out.

I'm looking at the I-5 in Sun Valley totally flooded. Channel 4 is showing a big rig trying to drive out of it, and it's more than half submerged.

The traffic nightmare is unspeakable.

I picked the right day to take off from work. Not only have I prevented another family room flood but I don't need to suffer both Friday night commute traffic and the chance I could be swamped somewhere along the 10 freeway without a waterproof jacket.

Lots of people in my area are out of power, so it's hitting close to home.

Lots of trees down in Bixby Knolls. Huge winds went through here around 4:30 this afternoon. Next door neighbor's tree uprooted.
