We should have traded him after 2011, when his value was through the roof.   We had mike trout tearing it up in the minors, and there was absolutely no reason to keep this guy around.    Now he's brandon wood.

He's proven nothing to me this year. People will point out in the offseason that he has hit around .300 in his tiny sample size of at bats - don't let that fool you though. Guy has a OBP below .310 for his career. He is not special.

Super small sample of 4 games from the DL recovering from wrist injury still painful - hit poorly

2012, 195 PAs - bad year!

 

2013, 160 PAs - small sample size!

 

I guess for those who are all about scientific precision, we should revisit this thread in about a week.

All I'm saying is that he hasn't followed up his 2011 season yet. He's had one good year. Plenty of players have one good year then get figured out. Not trying to pick a fight. Just my opinion that Bourjos isn't a very good MLB hitter

Some members on here have developed into legitamite Bourjos haters, that's for sure. Guy can't do anything right.

I'll take a moderate approach: Bourjos is not a "very good hitter," but he is a decent, maybe even a good one. My hope is that his true talent level is around .280/.750 which is good and, coupled with amazing defense, makes him a 5 WAR star. But even if he's a .260/.700 hitter, he's still a 3+ WAR player and has value as a center fielder. But I think he's better than that and should hit at .east .270 in a full season.
