Not sure how he is overrated when he took the Angels to 3 ALCSs and won a World Series in a 10 year period. Sure this team has sucked the last few years, but Scioscia is working with what was given to him. Scioscia is actually be very Un-Scioscia like this year and for the most part has used a very consistant line up free of platoons and its still not working.

When the Angels were doing well, this team was constructed much differently. They were an aggressive team on the bases that relied on maybe average starting pitching and a very strong bullpen. At the time people were complaining about Stoneman but apparently he had a pretty good idea on how to build the team around Scioscia's managerial strengths. This team is built completely different than it was when it was successful.

Dusty Baker is. Plugging Cozart and a variety of other low OBP players between Choo and Votto this year, bad bullpen management, truly believes pitcher wins are really valuable(even though some of his OWN players disagree). 

 

He also had a lot to do with Prior and Wood both experience arm troubles a while back.

Bobby Cox, 15 playoffs and only one World Series victory in 4 appearances. Obviously never produced any clutch players.

Dusty takes all kinds of heat from everyone who follows baseball. Scioscia, on the other hand, really only gets heat from followers of the Angels. The Angels have been such a mess the last two years, but no one really knows who is accountable for the mess (the GM , the owner). Plus, Scioscia has the ridiculously long contract the prohibits the team from dismissing him.

 

Looking over the list of current managers, I don't see anyone more "overrated" than Mike.

i don't think you can call dusty baker "overrated." he and ron washington are considered by most analysts to be two of the worst managers in baseball. i'd say someone like joe girardi is overrated.

Dusty Baker helped lead the Giants win 3 straight away games to clinch the 2012 NLDS after falling behind 0-2 in the series
