Anthony Rendon Interview

So you disagree with him that after 30 years of playing baseball and the toll its taken plus the injuries he shouldn't be tweaking his off-season workouts/conditioning?   Or are you of the belief he's no longer able to play?

If its the latter, I'd love to hear what your opinion is regarding how someone who's lost it was putting up near career best/still elite numbers in some pretty key areas.  Because tell you what I saw, a dude trying to swing his way through an injury without any legs beneath him.

IMO, unless his legs are completely shot he's still going to be a good hitter, his batting eye and ability to catch up to fastballs were both very evident, what was also obvious was that he couldn't use his legs to adjust to anything and was fisting anything he needed to slow down for.

IMO he talked like a player experiencing a slow natural decline. Like a SP who has lost a few MPH and now needs to tweak some things. He didn't talk a player who hasn't done anything since 2020.

When was the last time he was healthy?  Seems like tweaking his off-season conditioning might actually be a good idea

Again, are you of the opinion he no longer has the skills to be a good hitter?

I just want to say thank you.  This place is better when you're around and making posts like this.  You sir are an AW.com icon.  Your "gross", like Lou's "I agree" are a big part of the AW.com experience and what makes this place a fun read regardless of topic.

30 is not too old. Freeman is 34 and looks great.

If this issue is strictly Rendon's health, then he needs something far more than a few tweaks. He needs more than a new off-season program since he's 30. He's playing 50 games a year. The issue isn't he's running out of gas in September.

I think the issue(s) are far more complex than a few tweaks.

Thats aweome..  Did I say he's too old?  I've not mentioned his age because I don't think it's the issue here.  Not sure why you feel the need to bring it up but tell me how old Mike Trout was when he started getting injured.   Was it his age that led to the injuries?   What's the point of bringing up Freeman's age?

Since you're not actually saying what you think the actual issue is IMO, you're making mountains out of molehills.

Mike Trout essentially used the same phrase when talking about his back.  The point is he knows he needs to change some things and apparently is working on it.  But I guess because "fans" he should have said something like.  "Well, I'm older now so I need to completely overhaul my offseason workouts" because that sounds way more impressive.

Awesome, I too noticed he's been hurt and hasn't played games

Great -- it's probably not the weather either.  Has anyone argued he's just running out of gas?

Are one those issues a loss of skills that will keep him from playing at a high level?

Maybe if I change how I ask the question (for a third time), you might actually answer instead of just responding with more talking points that offer no actual insight into what you actually think the issue is other than you think he needs to show "more accountability".

Man does Mike Trout have some explaining to do.

This thread is bordering on ghey.

I know you are, but what am I?

I mean, Erstad Grit is hot for Freddie Freeman, and IP and Toby are basically touching penis tips in front of us.

I see you preemptively answered my question above....

This is bullshit!!!

My guess is the issues seems to be a combination of bad health for an athlete with a huge guaranteed contract who lacks passion and overall mental professionalism.

If he were a FA right now and declared to have made a "few tweaks" I doubt he'd have many teams believing in him.

I don't think there's anything he could have said that would have satisfied you.

.275/.375/.500 with solid defense and playing at least 80% of games.

I’d gladly settle for 80% games played and .800 OPS, and not so many bad throws, at this point.

Still like the idea of rotating him between 1B/DH/3B, to lower the wear and tear and bad throws.

Give Rengifo the other 3B starts.

"To be blunt, I've sucked the past 3 years. This offseason in particular I'm aware of the pressure and urgency for me to get my body back to 100%  so that I can once again be an elite baseball player."

Well, people don't always say or do the things we want them to.  He told the truth in that video.  If that's not good enough for you, that's on you. The proof will be in his performance.  I'd rather watch a winner than listen to one.  Time will tell.

I agree with everything you said here.
