this is not meant to bash pujols.

looks to me like he can't get around on the fastball. happens to everybody (even me) that there comes a time when the old bat speed diminishes enough that pitchers are able to just blast 90mph fastballs and the bat can't catch up.

looks to me like over the last 10 days or so AP has been really late on most fastballs he would ordinarily have crushed.

anybody else notice the lack of normal(for AP) bat speed?

I just said it was fitting since you know, he's hitting .220 and has been the worst regular in baseball for half a major league season.  It's called "the bigger picture".

 

But yes, I give him credit for that clutch leadoff single through the left side infield.
