Would be nice if Renfroe turns into a passable defender at first

I agree. If he works out well there defensively you’d have to figure the Angels will promote Adell at some point thereafter.

Adell can platoon with Moniak in RF, spell Trout and Ward throughout the week so that everyone stays fresh and gets AB’s.

Wow! Trading for Escobar, starting Renfroe at first, and bringing up Fletcher.  Angels are definitely showing a sense of urgency this season. Wished they've shown this more in past seasons.

Those are big moves, especially taken together.  Hopefully they all work out.  I wonder how often we see Renfroe at 1st?

Fletcher should be going to the plate literally looking for a BB.  EVERY. SINLE. ATBAT.

You know what increases your chances of getting a hit?  Hitting the ball hard.

You know what goes down when you make contact with balls outside of the zone?  Exit velocity.

You know what else happens when you make contact with balls outside the zone?  You are much less likely to achieve an optimum launch angle.  ie, fewer line drives or hard hit grounders and more weak grounders and popups.

you know who can benefit most from being ultra selective and only swinging at balls in the zone and in particular at balls they hit harder?  Most players, but in particular a guy like Fletcher who doesn't hit the ball very hard to begin with.

putting the ball in play is not and should never be a general strategy for anyone.  It's situational at best.
