An ignominious end to Ford's season. (Maybe career)? After shuffling between four teams in one season. Makes the term 'journeyman' seem simplistic. At least he collected major league paychecks.

Mind you, the Angels lineup was sprinkled with these kind of players all year.

Kind of a difficult situation for Rendon. He's hoping for positive feedback, but what if things don't go well for him in a really short 3 game  window? Wouldn't it be better to maybe just sit out the suspension but not take the field till next year?' A lot more time to reset mentally and physically. Obviously he's going to be extremely rusty now. After spring training he's on the same page as everyone else.

Jeff Fletcher has consistently said that MLB would probably invalidate him serving his suspension this season if he essentially couldn't "prove" he was actually healthy enough to play.

Yes. If there were only 5 games left, MLB would not allow the Angels to activate him.

Now, they activated him with 8 games left. If they get to those last 3 and just don’t play him, MLB would probably also have something to say about that. Either they’d reinstate the suspension and/or issue some big fines or other penalties to the Angels. MLB can pretty much do what they want to the Angels, so it would be just dumb of the Angels to mess around on something with so little upside.

Jeff, which Angels will be arbitration eligible this winter?

@Jeff Fletcher, Sam has info that seems to run counter to what you've been saying.

MLB had to approve him being activated, so he had to be able to play. I guess they’re satisfied now that he’s able to play. I suspect it helped that they activated him with 8 games left instead of 5 games left. That might have been a tougher sell.

The point is to avoid having him activated if he couldn’t play. If that were the case, the Angels would essentially be turning his 5-game suspension into an 8-game suspension by activating him now.
