The story on this scene was that Indy was supposed to fight this guy, but on the day of filming, Ford wasn’t feeling well so he ad-libbed the whole thing. What made it really work was that the bad guy and the crowd totally went along with it, so Spielberg kept it.

at least, that’s the way I heard it.

One of the all-time best. The original Das Boot (this version English dubbed). Putting it high on my list for a rewatch, along with No Country For Old Men.

Das Boot is one I’ve always known of, but I’ve yet to actually take the time to watch it. But I mean everyone says it’s one of the all-time great war movies, so I’m sure I’d dig it.

Sort of sub-adjacent, but Greyhound (Tom Hanks North Atlantic WWII movie) was pretty solid too and didn’t get much attention when it came out.

I rewatched No Country for Old Men maybe like two weeks ago. Just a freaking masterpiece still. I’m usually a substance (plot, characters, writing, etc…) over style guy, and while that movie doesn’t lack there, the look and feel of that movie is just incredible.

I think I went 3 times to see No Country when it was in the theaters. Just a perfect movie.

I dont have apple, so havent seen greyhound. Wish i could stream it some other way. Was real excited before it came out, thought it would be in the movies.

Someday hopefully...

I just watched this again recently, it really deserves to be mentioned among the all time great films.

Gattaca is like Shawshank Redemption.  Just an under the radar film, that when you see it again, you again fall in love with.

The scary thing though is that Gattaca is getting closer and closer to reality.

I agree with the comparison. It had probably been 7 or 8 years since I last watched it, and the perfection in tone for just about every scene stood out to me. It really is one of the handful of films I'd classify as flawless.
