Sounds like same thing he had last winter, but other leg.

Maybe he’ll be twice as good next year?

Still think they should add a vet catcher. Just wait til end of January and nab whoever is best value deal. Bemboom is perfect for 3rd string catcher. DFA Briceno to open a 40-man spot.

We always needed a catcher going into this off season.  If he isn’t ready to start the season we now need two catchers.

Last time one of his legs fell off he came back an actual MLB hitter.  .886 OPS, 139 OPS+.   Clearly, now that his other leg has fallen off he'll be Mike Piazza reborn when he gets back.

Well, 4-6 months means February - April. Assuming the latter, he probably won't miss more than a month of the year. The Angels were probably considering getting an Avila/Castro type anyway, now it just seems more likely. New catcher with Briceno backing up and Ward for emergencies to start the year, then Stassi/new catcher with Briceno in AAA. Seems simple enough.

Can’t forget Benboom, who was a solid #2 catcher in 2020.

Yeah, that is who I meant to say. I remember when Briceno made an appearance this year I was surprised, because I didn't realize he was still with the organization. But Bemboom has passed him on the depth chart.
