They need to take good, long look at their scouting and player development department, along with their analytics crew. There is clearly something missing here, especially as it pertains to pitching. You build a consistent winner with a solid farm system supplemented by key additions (trade or FA) here and there. The team has been putting a starting staff together with sub-standard or spare parts for too long now.

Someone earlier alluded to Arte needing to spend more money on pitching. He's clearly willing to, as evidenced by offers to Corbin, Eovaldi, and Cole. Those players chose to go elsewhere. The team wouldn't be in a position to need those guys so badly if they could develop pitching the way LAD, OAK, TB, and StL, among others, seem to be able to.

@eligrba said that merely average pitching would do this team wonders, and he's not wrong. Offensively, this team is pretty solid. They need to figure out why they're having such a hard time developing solid MLB pitchers.

thanks....I would have had a heart attack thinking there would have been a real chance at Yelich for Adell.

It is way past time to gut the Front Office starting with Carpino, Eppler and Swanson. After five straight losing seasons and no pitching on the way until 2022, Eppler and Swanson are abject failures. Arte must invest way more into scouting and player development. No team will trade a 1 or 2 who are controllable for several years. TOR pitching needs to be drafted, signed and developed. He needs to upgrade the International Scouting and target the best of the prospects in Latin America. 
 

Pujols’ contract is up next season And Upton in 2022. Hopefully there will be prospects ready to play by 2023.

Agreed, but unfortunately Carpino is Arte Moreno's guy. Caprino ain't leaving until Arte sells the team or he retires on his own.

Find some competent people to scout and develop young pitchers. There should be a complete re-vamp of that department (fire em all!)

You wouldn't have traded Trout after his first crack at the majors. It way to early to trade Adell but not too early to get a look at Marsh in the Angels outfield. Detmers also should get some starts before this season is over.
