I partially blame Joe Maddon on taking Felix Pena out there.

The pen just had a good week of games and today had a shitty game.  Even if we built a pen thru free agency (which is just a horrible way to build a pen) Middleton and Buttrey would still be in this pen and if Maddon is anything like Scioscia, and he is, they’d be pitching in a game like this down a run.

Agree, though from watching, it looked like Pena may have developed a blister so that could have played a role in pulling him. Saw him look at his finger after a pitch and shake his hand after another. After that, his slider wasn't sharp the rest of his outing

The A's have always been good at putting together a good bullpen, unlike Eppler with his pitching staffs. 

I hope with the Bundy trade it's a sign of good things to come in terms of dealing for a guy who could benefit in another uniform that's more focused on drawing out a pitchers strengths.

He did. The A's announcers were commenting on it. They noticed blood on his pants where he was wiping it off.

That’s the thing I worry about though, based on the whole time Eppler’s been here.    A few good games,  and they then regress.  That’s been the MO the past 4+ years.

Overall yes, but the rotation has also been pretty bad outside of Bundy and maybe Sandoval.

4.50 ERA, 4.5 BBs/9 innings, and not even 2/1 Ks/BBs ratio

That is not good!  Definitely terrible command!

Overall it's not bad. Today it was another late inning meltdown that did it. Nobody would've cared if they gave up 3 runs in the 9th last night but these meltdown always happen when we're either ahead or 1-2 runs behind

The pen is mostly meh. Robles was hitting 97 MPH today though so that's a good sign for him hopefully turning his season around. They sorely need to acquire somebody via trade for the 7th/8th inning. Right now it's just a guessing game of whoever Maddon picks and chooses and you just hope for the best from that bunch.
