Gameday Thread: Padres vs. Angels (7/22/2020) Last Summer Camp Game!!

I’ve listen to some podcasts that say they anticipate a return to stealing a run here and there in this shortened season.  You might see some more stolen bases, more first to third and even some sac bunts.  The reasons is teams that scored first last year won 70% of the time.  In a season of 60 games every single game counts.  Should be interesting.

That's an interesting bit of information there. I'm not sure what to make it. There is obviously some selection bias as scoring first guarantees you score and at least half the time means you held your opponent scoreless for a stretch of the game. 70% seems a little high for that to explain everything.

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. Obviously when you choose to sacrifice you are not going to score as many runs that inning.  But I still thought it was an impressive stat.
