Yeah I hate the presidential pardons as most seem to have some type of political motivation behind them. I know nothing about these particular cases other than they had their due process and were convicted.  Should be end of story.

This one is particularly bad.  This is an evil person.  A genuine war criminal.  Cute family picture aside.  The military was against the pardon.  Not one of his men spoke for him.  He belongs in cage.

I just looked up these cases briefly. His really sounds bad, especially firing on unarmed civilians. As far as his men, they could have refused an unlawful order. My guess is they were charged and probably offered immunity for testifying against him. The other guy killed some ISIS bomber. Fuck the ISIS bomber
