BLM leader issues warning to NYC's incoming mayor

The head of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York met with Eric Adams, the city’s mayor-elect, to discuss policing and warned that there will be "bloodshed" if the city returns to its pre-De Blasio model, according to a report.

Adams, himself a former police captain, on Wednesday met with Hawk Newsome, the BLM leader, and others behind closed doors at Brooklyn’s Borough Hall, the New York Daily News reported. 

The meeting was tense and turned into a shouting match, the paper reported. One of the key issues raised was the possibility that the city could reinstate its anti-crime unit, which Newsome compared to the Nazi Gestapo.

"If he thinks that they’re going to go back to the old ways of policing, then we are going to take to the streets again. There will be riots, there will be fire and there will be bloodshed because we believe in defending our people," Newsome told the paper. He said that the group prays for peace but prepares "for the worst."

Truck driver claps back at MSNBC for crying 'racism': Leftist media playing with emotions, fears

MSNBC’s Tiffany Cross slammed America’s trucking industry for being comprised of mostly White men over 55 with road rage but truck driver Carl Tharp-Porter debunked her assertion on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

The Milwaukee-based driver explained that even though there is a division in the industry, it does not lie within race – and his senior colleagues agree. Tharp-Porter pressed that it’s important not to fall prey to the mainstream media’s leftist rhetoric that "plays upon your emotional weariness" and fears.

"There is a divide but it’s not on the issues of race," he said. "A lot of people are dealing with emotional issues here. It’s more of an accountability issue. It’s a spiritual battle and I think that it’s either right or wrong, good or evil."

The trucker ripped Cross for being adamant about a racial imbalance in the industry while neglecting to address real issues like the gender gap, DOT regulations and wage issues.

"Those are the true issues," he said. "I don’t want to deal with the invisible bogeyman like racism… We need to get over this imaginary thought of racism. To me, it doesn’t exist."

"We are a family unit in the truck driving industry," he added. "We don’t want to deter young drivers like myself away from the industry because of other people’s fears and disbeliefs."

Tharp-Porter originally responded to the segment Sunday, tweeting that he’s never experienced racism from other drivers.

"We have a code as drivers and some folks don’t want to be bothered nor harassed on political beliefs!" he tweeted. "It’s difficult enough being away don’t bring your leftist agenda to us!!!"

The decision makes Oakland the latest city to bolster its support for law enforcement after several cities that committed to defunding the police in the wake of George Floyd's murder in 2020 experienced a considerable rise in violent crime.

The mayor's announcement came after a weekend that saw three people gunned down, including retired police officer and father of two Kevin Nishita, and a 1-year-old boy hit by a stray bullet as he sat in the back of his mother's car.
