Yep. Don't forget this is the same org that had an employee hacking into the Cardinals computer files a few years back. As for getting caught, they are now 0 for 2.

I am pretty sure it was the other way around with the Cardinals hacking into the Astros computer.

Iirc, part of a Manfred’s argument was that players might feasibly have been unaware it was against the rules since it was only codified in 2017 with specifics. (I find that bs, but that was the argument.)

Rose broke a rule everyone knew was an absolute no in baseball. People argue he only bet on his team to win, as if that somehow makes it okay, but even that ignores the problems there. For instance, who plays and pitches that day? Who has the day off? If he’s trying to win money it changes how he manages each game.

Also, the fact that Rose is a garbage person makes it an easy pass for me.

This would mean discovery, players being subpoenaed and forced to testify under oath. If they’re found to be lying then they could face jail time for contempt of court. 🤔 this could be awesome if it is allowed to proceed past the objections of the players.

The more information that comes out about the Astros' cheating - the worse Manfred looks.  I mean 10-12 teams filed complaints with MLB?  Clearly, he only really investigated them when Fiers went public.  It's a bad look. I hope this thing continues to blow up in all of their faces. There needs to be real reckoning, a scorching of the earth type deal here. Carlos Beltran is a real POS. I hope players, fans, whoever overwhelm the courts with lawsuits.

A terrible look. They wanted everybody to just move on.

According to a report Tuesday in The Athletic, Beltran was the ringleader when it came to the scheme and ignored the protests of some coaches and teammates.

Beltran joined the Astros before the 2017 season after spending the previous three years with the Yankees. According to The Athletic, when Beltran got to Houston, he told the organization its sign-stealing methods were “behind the times.”

And even when other players — including former Yankees teammate Brian McCann — advised Beltran to put a stop to the cheating, Beltran refused, the report claims.

“He disregarded it and steamrolled everybody,” one of the team members alleged. “Where do you go if you’re a young, impressionable player with the Astros and this guy says, ‘We’re doing this’? What do you do?”
