Currently the difference between the two teams is just perception.  The Angels didn't finish the year that much better than the Mariners.

I just want to stop dicking around and adding a bunch of middling pieces to hopefully compete for the 2nd wildcard maybe.

Arte needs to walk around with his balls out and a dildo pen and whisper vague threats like "Enjoy your day, while you can" into Boras' ear. I want to hear that Gerrit Cole signed a contract with the Angels after Arte and Eppler walked into the room with a pinball machine and Eppler held Boras down while Arte had his way with him. I want Zack Wheeler to literally cum the second Eppler makes eye contact with him. Grandal holds out until late February when he approaches Arte on his knees, crying like a bitch. 

Also Cole Hamels signs with the Angels. The signing was uneventful.
