I'd really like to see Coello get more work than he's getting.

 

His 0.00 ERA and 12 so's and 0 bb's against the 22 batters he's faced might be a fluke, but it's also possible we have a real gem with this guy.

 

 

It'd be nice to find out.

Frieri's numbers since this very well thought out thread:

8.1 IP, 2.16 ERA, 2 R, 2 BB, 13K, 6 Saves, 0 Blown.

There was 1 appearance where he gave up 2 solo shots to the Dodgers but still kept the save.

Frieri is a very rare commodity.

Not many guys can get away with just using a fastball.

Ok LT, here is what he meant. Frieri is the rare case of a pitcher that gets by with his fastball being his only quality pitch.

Yep, as good as he's looked the past 6 innings, it's still difficult to maintain this for too many innings when you have one reliable pitch.

He has to work on either his breaking pitch or change in the off-season, if he is to eventually break into the upper tier of closers.

Very few pitchers succeed for a whole season with one out pitch. Washburn was very unusual in that way, and he only succeeded because he had different variations on it (moving in, tailing away, sinking, etc.).

The past 9.1 innings, we've seen a Frieri not seen here before. He's allowed just 4 base runners in that time including only ONE walk.

Whatever he's doing, it's working like a charm.

No this is the Frieri we have seen before.

Not this control, which allows him to have consistently low 9th inning pitch counts and thus be more apt to pitch well the next day.

There was mid-August 2012 through October 3, 2012 where he had 3 BBs in 17.1 innings.

That is the only other time as a Halos pitcher where he had this kind of control.
