Gameday Thread: Angels vs. Rangers April 17,2019

Actually looks like a decent lineup tonight, especially with the "slow one" not in the lineup.

Would be a waste if we can't get the game in due to bad weather!

At least it's the final game of the Road Trip and the boys will be back home tonight!

There's something to be said for "home cooking"!

Yeah it's going to come down pretty damn hard. People here are scrambling to get their cars some protection. Had to take my car to an underground parking garage to keep for the night. It's nice right now. Sunny and 80 but it's supposed to start rolling through around 10pm here. Tennis ball sized hail they're projecting.

Harvey was decent in his first start, but progressively struggled since then. He needs a really solid game now just to maintain self confidence. Not necessarily a win, but a good controlled outing.

He tends to have streaks where he consistently misses his target and then tries to compensate with pitches that drift into prime hitting zones. His velocity has been ok, not great. His off speed stuff can be very good, but has been inconsistent so far. And he has had lots of trouble finishing off batters with two strikes.

If he is going to be a regular starter he can't get into one of those downward spirals like he had with the Mets. It's far too early to write him off, but he has to earn confidence by showing more poise and savvy. Veteran pitchers often find ways to get out of jams even when not having their best stuff.

What's the over/under on home runs given up by Harvey? I'd say 4.
