Ironically Art Fleming, the first host of Jeopardy, also died of pancreatic cancer. He died in 1995 at age 70.

Jennings is super smart and well known with Jeopardy watchers but you have to wonder if his personality is engaging enough to be a full time host

Probably the best interim choice though.  There is really no controversy with him as the selection.  Actually might be the best selection, since as Trebek says, he is not the star, the contestants are the stars, he is just the host.  With the way Jennings was brought on, it almost feels like he was hand picked by Trebek, which also goes a long way towards this being a continuation, instead of a replacement.

Trebeck was the grandfatherly type that we loved. Huge shoes to fill.

I’m okay with them auditioning a few different people and see who clicks. I think I’d be okay with Jennings, but going from contestant to host may be a tall order for him to fill.
