Bud Norris

Will it come down to that point where Norris as closer has to be considered as an option?  I guess I mean are we at that point now with Kimbrel too expensive, Ottavino's market extremely competitive and not much left in FA closer after that.  Norris may not be the best clubhouse guy and may be prone to a grand slam here or there but he does have closing experience plus can do a multi-inning role of needed.

I recall heading something about his attitude here on AW when he was with us, though I thought it was.pretty cool when he volunteered to start at the end of 2017 after pitching in relief for the whole season.  I think it cost him some incentive money.

If getting Norris meant we could also take some.flyers or.pick up offensive help I guess I'd be ok with it.  Need a closer.

Isn't Buttrey already perfect for the Closer role ?  I'd prefer Buttrey over Smokes alot of Bud Norris.

Buttrey had a 1.63 FIP !

Norris is as good as any other remaining FA RP at this time, so I’d be fine with it.

I believe he pitched 60 games for us, and of those, only 5 could really be considered bad. He was solid for STL.

You don't sign Norris to be your closer.  No.

If you think he can help the pen, fine.  But then just pay him like some guy in the pen.

He made.$3 million last year, I imagine it would be around the same this year.  Maybe 2 years $7-8 million for a multi-inning guy or closer if needed.

He pitched 16 1/3 innings.  Don't read too much into a FIP based on so few innings.
