1276 ip from 2011 to 2016 during the regular season plus another 102ip during the post season in that time.  k rate down.  walk rate up.  he's about to break.

Yeah, he has a lot of mileage.  He'd be good to have on the staff if his medicals are clear, the guy is clutch, but I'm not sure he be counted on to be a staff ace for very long.

It does make you wonder when you look at how few innings most of the leagues pitchers produce each year and yet still have problems. They rode Madison pretty hard during their successful years, and he's only logged just over 110 innings the last two seasons. Not sure if he is going to be able to rebound to an ace pace or break down. His career could go either direction at this point.

Can’t imagine what your take on Verlander would of been last season.

what he's doing in extremely rare considering his age.  probably ends up as one of the top 20 seasons for a player 35 and older.

go ahead and build your team on that kind of stuff happening and see how you end up long term.

Who said anything about building a team around Verlander ? or anybody for that matter.

Bumgarner is 29 yrs old and has a 1yr/12M option left on his deal. Doubtful the Giants are trading him.

that has nothing to do with his point of the player we would be getting.

" . . . that excels, indeed, is the best this decade, at pitching (hitting) in the playoffs?

That's exactly why the Angels might get him.  He's not worth that much to the Giants and they need to bolster their farm.

Regarding Bumgarner's innings the past two years, he's missed time due to injuries but they weren't injuries that came as a result of pitching, so to speak.

Last year he missed about 3 months due to an ATV accident (dumbass) and this year he missed the first two months because he was hit in the hand by a line drive in spring training.  Otherwise, he hasn't been on the DL
