If he were to go somewhere else and be Mike Napoli in the playoffs and the fans embrace him, I think he would be less likely to come back.

If we aren't trading him, I would wait to see how he plays for the rest of the year first before we extend him.  He probably isn't going to play any better than he has in the first half IMO, so the Angels leverage should only improve as time goes on.

If he plays worse/not better as the season goes on, the Angels' leverage on him gets better?  I mean, sure, I guess?  Ha ha.  But if he doesn't get better (and potentially gets worse), then why would you want to re-sign him, anyway?

Elite defense, proven veteran hitter.  I wouldn't take him back if he hit like Kole before his DL stint though.

Why do we continually talk about trading Richards? I could understand it if our pitchers were all healthy, but I don't see the sense in trading a capable starter in our current situation. The odds we would get minor leaguers who couldn't help the club right now. I don't see the point.

What's "equal value" for less than half a season of a C who's not signed for next year?  Honestly, I'd be fine with getting pretty much anything for him, even if it's just a bullpen arm with some upside.

Except the market for Maldy would be contenders, and contenders normally don't trade quality bullpen arms away when they are trying to win.

It would have to be a quality minor league arm.

I really think Maldonado would be a hot commodity on the trade market, for a playoff bound team. He's as good as there is, defensively. Most will accept a .240 average for his defense.

Only if the chances are VERY good that the Halos can bring him back as a FA.    His defense, leadership, and solid for a catcher OPS are tough to find.

He also has a Bengi Molina way of getting big hits.....somebody will probably post a stat that says I'm wrong but he seemingly is a good guy to have up with RISP....

Mathis retired the first 2 batters he faced before giving up the home run.

Gentlemen, I think we've found our next reliever.

His inning did look familiar.....

Except if he were an Angels reliever, he'd get 2 quick outs, then get ahead 1-2 on the third batter, before throwing three consecutive balls and giving up the walk. Then he'd walk the next batter. Then he'd allow a single, followed by a double. And then get the third out on K after allowing 3 runs.

I hate how accurate this is.
