No, this is on Maldonado. Ohtani is throwing hittable strikes on 0-2 and 1-2 counts. Ohtani needs to shrug him off before his ERA skyrockets. He needs to pitch for the strikeout and not to contact.

Ohtani only needs to do what he has been doing..which is just fine for most.

So you just admitted it was Ohtani throwing those hittable pitches, well done. Maldonado has no control where the pitch goes.

Ohtani's mechanics and mound presence are so effortless and smooth. It doesn't look like there would be significant velocity or movement or break, yet there it is.

Winning games and championships are awesome and all, but it's seriously just a joy watching him, Trout, and Simmons each night. Even Pujols. It's great baseball and great entertainment.

WTF are you even talking about? If Ohtani does in fact throw a mistake pitch that ends up right down the middle on an 0-2 count, it isn’t because the catcher told him to. Your bias is way too obvious.

No bias here. Ohtani has thrown mostly nothing but strikes on 0-2 and 1-2 counts. That's called "pitching to contact". And luckily, the contact they made didn't end up being hits despite mostly being hit in the air.

Ohtani is the last pitcher one would want to pitch to contact

No it’s called missing your spot. Maldonado is not calling for a hanging breaking ball or splitter right down the chute.

Sorry but I'm not buying your analysis.

I think you're being hyper-critical.

YMMV
