Two things that summerize the franchise in its' Tejas years:   Ruining #1 overall pick David Clyde's arm shortly after drafting him in 1973, and of course 2011 WS game 6.

Technically, Texas already has won a WS, it just happened in Houston. I think we're ok here

The same headline could have applied to the Angels organization, prior to 2002. 2-0 lead in the ALCS in 1982, 3-1 lead in the ALCS in 1986. Only 10 playoff appearances in 57 years of existence. 5-9 record in playoff series.

Baseball is not an easy sport to achieve and maintain excellence. Great players like LeBron or Jordan or Tom Brady can have a greater effect on the outcome of a game than a great baseball player like Trout, Mays or maybe Ricky Henderson.

Big money helps. That's  why organizations like the Yanks, the Dodgers and R Sox have remained competitive for years on end.
