Latest.  Mt. San Jacinto via the Palm Springs Tramway.  Unfortunately, not much snow left.  Stupid alltrails posters saying it was hard, and they needed gear to get up.  No gear needed.  So I carried a lot of dead weight.  Overall though, beautiful hike.  First 2/3 of the hike was through pines.

I use Merrell's.  Also, I add an insole to mine.  It really adds to the comfort, especially in rocky terrain.  A buddy of mine use Keen's.

The other thing I'd recommend is socks.  Merino Wool socks make a world of difference when hiking.  I use Darn Tough's, a bit expensive, but they have a lifetime warranty.  It's cut down on blisters and foot pain quite a bit.

I have Merrell's as well and what sold me was it didn't feel like you needed to break them in. Kind of a from box to rocks product rather than taking a couple dozen walks round the neighborhood to get them to your liking. I use a sock liner to reduce the direct contact friction of the sock and inner sole.

@gotbeer, not exactly the Gorgonio’s or Baldy, but the wife and I are down in La Jolla this weekend for a wedding.  We did a 6 miler along the Torrey Pines Trails.  Hit several of the View Points.  Great day for a beach hike.

SD definitely has better beach hikes than LA.  The Del Mar hike is similar.  Great views, not too crowded, and usually very comfortable in weather.

Probably will hit that tomorrow, if I’m not too hung over.

Thanks @Redondo.  We love it down here also.  My daughter lives here and while we visit often, we don’t usually find time to hike.  Love it here and may look at property.

Is that at the Midway?

Fleet Week at LA Harbor.  They had a lot of cool military stuff to touch and feel.  Essex tour was pretty cool, since it was a working Amphibious Ship.  So many soldiers with AR's patrolling to make sure you didn't go where you they didn't want you to go.

A little closer to home. Drive about 10 miles from the house and you can hike the Chukar Butte trail in the foothills near Boise. So many trails around here, this one is easy and really pretty this time of year. Looking south, in the background is Boise and then in the distance are the snow-capped Owyhee mountains. This was Thursday 6/2 mid-morning, temperature 75 degrees.
