Latest hike.  Was going to do Cucamonga Peak, but after getting to the saddle, and wandering on the trail a bit.  Yeah, it was dangerous to go that way.  I didn't see any footsteps where the trail should be, and the only steps I saw were going in some bumbfuck way.  Plus it was soft snow.  My hunches were probably correct as there was a rescue helicopter in the gulch on my way out.

On the Ontario side.  Stupid created the trails.  All of them were not anywhere close to the regular trail, and instead of bypassing the false peaks, they went straight up and down every single false peak.  Adding probably a few hundred feet of unnecessary steep elevation gain and loss in the process.

They made a new trail on the Arizona side of the river where I walk. I was able to walk to the dam  on the Nevada side, over it and come down the Arizona side. Then walk down to the bridge and cross to the other side.

7.5 miles, 2 hours 20 minutes, and it was beautiful weather today

Hey GB, if you can bring me one of those ore carts before June, there could be a nice liquid reward for you from Trader Joe’s.

I wish.  I'd like one of those myself.  I found a lower section in the forest on the East Fork.  My buddy hiked it out.  115 lbs just for the lower section and axels.

You’re younger and stronger than me . . . What’s the problem?

Latest hike.  Surprisingly, this is the first time I've done the Griffith Park trails.  And it's like right in my backyard.  I think I could see my house from one of the peaks.  Anyways, @Tank, A hike you should consider.  Maybe not the route I took, but it's a nice hike once you get to the top level.

Another easy hike, this time in the SD area.  Short 6 mile one, with about a 1,000 foot elevation gain.  End is a waterfall, with low flow already in the spring months.  It's going to have trouble come summertime.

Might be.  It was a really deep pool.  Steep dropoff from the edge where you couldn't see the bottom.  But limited water flow access from either end.  On the weekends, it's supposed to be a really busy spot.

Hey friends, I am looking to get back into hiking but need some new boots first.

Which ones would ya'll recommend? Cheers.

I use Merrell's.  Also, I add an insole to mine.  It really adds to the comfort, especially in rocky terrain.  A buddy of mine use Keen's.

The other thing I'd recommend is socks.  Merino Wool socks make a world of difference when hiking.  I use Darn Tough's, a bit expensive, but they have a lifetime warranty.  It's cut down on blisters and foot pain quite a bit.
