I hear this subject has sympathetic views on the confederacy. He's about as southern as you can get. Especially in Winter.  Can we tear down this divisive statue?

...and the latest lunacy. They're going after Traveler the horse. Yes, the USC mascot. It turns out that Robert E. Lee's horse was also named Traveler.

Saphia Jackson, co-director of the USC Black Student Assembly...reminded (students) that “white supremacy hits close to home” and referenced the name of the Trojans mascot at a recent rally on campus. There have also been calls on social media to change the horse's name.

This is getting out of hand.

someone targeted a christopher columbus statue yesterday, also.

sat next to a co-worker yesterday who had a copy of howard zinn's "the people's history of the U.S." and so started looking at it. the first chapter was about columbus. i was able to read only about 5 or 6 pages, and i knew going in that columbus was kind of a weird guy or at least had a weird approach to what he wanted to do, but if zinn is accurate, yowza!
