I will note one thing: Meyer pitched about 54 innings last year and was currently sitting at 91 which is a 68% increase. Could simply be that he has to build his arm up more.

I just hope that Eppler is not delusional about this team. He needs to cut bait with quite a few players and keep building with youth.

Why is it only ever the young pitchers with a modicum of upside? Nolasco could probably get misted at point blank range by an anti-aircraft gun and still somehow regenerate his body in time to give up 7 runs the next day, while one of our young guys goes one day without hitting their daily water intake recommendation and they're done for the year. WTF...

Fister's been awful in Boston, 0-4 with a 7.89 ERA.

Meyer has a history of shoulder inflammation. The Angels asked him to alter his release point to a higher release as he did before going pro, which they felt was more conducive to a healthier arm. Meyer to his credit took it all in stride and has performed better than anyone could've expected.

The fact that this crept up again, while not unexpected is still very disconcerting. The new release point was supposed to help him move past these issues.

Fortunately for the Angels, Skaggs is coming back next week, and if they simply need a warm body Troy Scribner has been pretty good in Salt Lake.
