Kings signed Darcy Kuemper as a backup goalie on a one-year deal.

He used to be solid back in the day.   Hopefully, Quick can return to playing at least 60 games this season.

what are we expecting this season? i feel like it's another year outside the playoffs. the pacific is much better and we're just not as good as the young teams and/or ducks.

Honestly it may be about time to burn it all down and begin anew. In this era of the salary cap what other choice do you have if you aren't ascending with lots of flexible cap space?

my point is that doughty has two years remaining on his contract. let's not trade him just yet. maybe this team figures out a few things.

you're right in that we still have brown and gaborik to pay for such puny production, but maybe it's tempered by other guys stepping up.

You'd have a better chance getting someone to bite on the Pujols contract.

I mean I guess you could bribe a salary cap bottom dredge team to take it but it'd cost so much in valuable assets as to make you wonder what would be the point?

anyone watch the game today? any impressions on what you saw?

The Kings seem to want to play a more offensive game (well yeah...) and turn up the offense from the defensemen. However I'm not sure they really have the personal for it. Would this change really net more goals than it will allow. The Martinez/Muzzin pairing cannot stop any team's top lines. Forbert has really been showing his limitations carrying the puck and is a disaster with anyone not named Doughty. If Doughty is continually tabbed to lock down the top threats he will remain far more one-dimensional than he has the ability to be. We won't speak of the third line.

The rebuild is in progress.   I'm okay with that after two Stanley Cups.   Got to adapt to the new offense oriented ways of the NHL.

i liked nolan and thought he was a good fourth liner. he was pretty darn helpful, along with king, when they were called up in early 2012.
