I've actually had that conversation with my wife. I'm not sure if I used visual aids and I'm not sure I buy his particular excuse. But yeah, I'm not going to die without seeing my betrothed's reaction to tentacle porn. But it's funny he gets manga confused with hentai.

As I understand Japanese Porn rules are surprisingly stringent considering how prolific it is.  Depiction of genitalia being taboo.  Tentacle porn tries to get around this limitation by depicting penetration through metaphor. Japanese society being as repressed historically as it has been it's also rather rapey.
