Some people can't afford to go to the beach

Recommended Posts

This week, legislation was introduced in Sacramento aimed at fixing that problem. If passed, Assembly Bill 250 would direct the Coastal Conservancy to develop new low-cost accommodations, and improve existing affordable accommodations, with the goal of making a trip the beach more accessible for families who don’t have a lot of money and might have to travel far.

This is actually a brilliant idea. Camping along the coast is absolutely amazing.

I really can't even fathom why we have to subsidize low income hotels or campgrounds for the beachfront. Of the 2,897,996,089 problems California has, this is about 12 more numbers below that in importance.

How about we find a fucking solution to Brown's billion dollar deficit before we hit the senate floor with another expenditure.

The only thing you have to pay for at the beach is parking.  Where is the rest of this "cost" coming from?

This seems silly.

agree completely, though since i didn't use a swear word rally thinks i'm an old codger.

I thought that was Huntington.

We used to do a lot of walks along the beach and one of the last ones we did I'd be willing to bet that about 95% of the people down there don't live within 10 miles, I smelled pot at least 5 different times, don't recall seeing cops once and later that night some kid got stabbed by the 24 hour fitness which is now gone.  There's been an uptick in the number of homeless people hanging around and I know some of the businesses on main street have complained but not sure what can be done.  We used to go downtown to watch football and hang out and in the last few years it's changed to the point that I barely recognize it.  Pacific City is nice but I really have no desire to go down to main street any more.  The beaches in Huntington seem to be having more and more in common with the US Open of Surfing in regards to the fact that fewer residents are going.
