Yeah I can't see him being a fit. Don't see much sense adding a third TJ returnee to the pile.

This signing is in Dipoto's wheel-house.  I expect Dipoto to sign him for 2017 for the cost of a mid-level reliever.

I'm sure Eppler has intimate knowledge on these guys and signing Eovaldi in particular to a 3 year deal at the League minimum with incentives and then just stashing him on the DL isn't a terrible idea considering his velocity pre-injury.

Of course you can always try to sign them on Minor League deals with incentives if they reach the Major Leagues too. There are ways to sign them it really just depends on whether we want them.

I'd sign him to a two year deal with an eye towards moving him to the bullpen. His Fastball/Splitter combo could be lethal in a late-inning role.
