I attended a vehicle inspection (as part of a lawsuit) with one of the partners at Parker's firm a few years ago. Naturally, I asked him about the commercials and the guy on the motorcycle. You probably recall, their initial commercial was just a headshot, but they followed that up some years later with a shot that panned out and showed the guy's whole body.

Anyway, I said to the attorney "Jeff, the commercial you guys did as a follow up...the one that pans out and shows the guy sitting on the motorcycle...was that taped..."

He cuts me off and says "to respond to the rumors that he has no arms or legs - that's absolutely why we did it!"

I LoL'ed pretty good at that. He seemed quite serious.

From what I heard...brutha man from the 5th floe, was taped to a metal post to prop him up.

The funny part of the LHP ads are that the lower the production quality, the more response it got. For a time they purposefully jacked up the lighting etc.

I really like being a dolly grip. I'm working with camera operators to get the shots right, and I get to be in the moment all day long. I don't bring the job home with me either.

The disadvantages in the TV industry are the long hours (12-14 or more, hour days) and there is no job security. If you can't get the shot, someone else will be there tomorrow who can.

I've been fortunate to mitigate the hours the past few years by taking day work piecemeal, rather than taking a whole show on.

I never needed a lot of money, and I get lots of time to see live music, or ballgames, etc. The best part is I get to rotate around from show to show and see old friends a lot more often.

I can't see myself ever retiring unless I get too sick or injured to continue. That day eventually comes for all of us, but I intend to enjoy today as much as possible. Highly recommend doing so.

This thread is worth a read. Some good stuff in here.

I recently changed careers, which allowed me to exit the church ministry world and focus on something that I'm passionate about using my skills. I spent about 10 total years working for evangelical Christian organizations and met a ton of great people and did some good work. But being tied to a faith-based employer got old after a while. Working behind the scenes of a church, you can become disillusioned with how the church is run. Doing the right thing is often secondary to making the right people happy.

My new job is incredibly flexible, and allows me to work from home and make my own schedule.

Congratulations on becoming a liberal lobbyist.

When I saw you had quoted me I thought you were going to say something like, "I'm so happy for you enjoying your new life as a male escort."

I do love my current job.

You gonna tell us what it is you’re doing or not?
