Reminder we also started off slow in 2002

Jesus Christ another year of this. Blood brother is right. Who cares about 2002. Maddon is basically the same as Scioscia but with an easier persona. Oh and if the Cubs win it all that doesn't mean Maddon is better than Scioscia. It does mean Theo is better than Dipoto but I'm not sure who would argue differently.

So by that logic we can expect other teams with really good rosters (and there are several) to beat up on us like the Cubs did.

Okay, so 75 wins seems reasonable.

Our players will start hitting and compete. Look at the Cubs and the Angels and go position by position. Trout is the ONLY Angel you'd take, maybe you take Perez over Ross.

Angels fans know the real season starts in late September, when we're four games back and then go on a seven-game win streak, but lose the 161st game in heartbreaking fashion to finish just short of a playoff spot.

Who cares about the team sleepwalking through April. That last week or so is going to be exciting as hell!

It's two freaking games. Yes, 2002 happened, but that's almost a decade and a half ago. Heck, in 2014 we started off 11-13 and were the best team in baseball, we just blew it in the playoffs.

However, this year there is a definite lack of talent. The complete absence of offense is concerning.

No, but he did take a Rays team with a miniscule payroll to the World Series. Scioscia has always had a top 5 or 10 payroll and yet somehow the team always underperforms. Want to explain that?

I'll explain it like this, you're wrong.

yeah.  he had a good team.  the rays averaged 100 losses a season for the first ten years of existence till that point so they were accumulating high first round picks like crazy.  Maddon's first two years were 96 and 101 loss seasons.

a manager is relevant for at most 5 games in either direction.

payroll is irrelevant if that money isn't spent on talent.

Joe Maddon isn't going to turn an 80 win team into a playoff contender no matter how much you want him to.  Credit the rays front office.  Joe is definitely an excellent manager

but the talent you have on the field reigns supreme.

Lol. Always trying to shift the blame on the previous gm.

If theo had arte as his owner, the cubs would be in the same situation.

Some of you seem to need to understand that fans aren't mad because we lost the first two games. Fans aren't calling a 2 game losing streak a slow start. The fans did not expect this team to beat the Cubs both games, and I bet a lot of us didn't expect to even win one.

The fans are mad because we got RAPED.

The Cubs are top to bottom better than the Angels, but this is baseball, where the best teams win 60% of the time and the worst win 40% of the time. With the quality of the performances by everyone involved in those two games we were going to win 0% of those games. We were probably 'in the game' for about 6 or 7 innings total in the two games. Even the ****ing Netherlands could beat some of the top nations in the WBC but the Angels couldn't even manage to look any better than some AAA scrub roster against the Cubs.

We allowed them entry into our house and engaged action as a willing party.

The score is irrelevant ... casual balling maybe
