Look at Baltimore's roster, it is the have and the have nots. Would anyone here be happy if they traded him for Schoop? Trumbo? We certainly weren't going to get Machado or Jones. They wouldn't have offered a QO to Weiters if they were contimplating moving him for a guy like Santiago. Obviously they couldn't trade Davis. Hardy doesn't make sense because of Simmons. Do they still have Pearce?

I just don't really see a potential fit anywhere other than Schoop, in terms of need and cost.  Not saying it would have been a win for either side, but I would assume that was the target.  Obviously it didn't happen, but it sounds like something was far enough down the road that his agent was told.

We were also rumored to be interested in Neil Walker before he went to the Mets.  So sounds like we were looking into SP for 2B swaps.

It was Brian Matusz and Rey Navarro for Santiago and part of our international budget. Don't know what fell through. Navarro ended up here anyway.
