White Sox will only go three years for Cespedes/Gordon

Recommended Posts

Pretty interesting turn of events.  For the past few days and perhaps even since they traded for Todd Frazier, the White Sox were seen as the heavy favorites to land either Cespedes or Gordon.  This means there's a decent chance they're setting the starting price for these guys.  Perhaps if the White Sox are only willing t go three years, the Angels could feasibly land either Gordon or Cespedes on a four year deal, which would be pretty incredible considering it was believed they'd cost 5-6 years.

as long as Eppler sticks with the slow roll, we are gonna be in good shape to get one of those guys at a discount and it could lead to us being able to add other pieces as well.

This is either going to work out terrifically for us or be even more frustrating as we watch players go to other teams on reasonable deals while we are left holding our junk.

Yeah, I suppose you have to know the right time to strike.  If Eppler does intend to upgrade LF, he's certainly done a great job at reading the market thus far.  There's no way their demands are as high now as they were right after the Heyward signing.

Pretty much this. I'd take either of them for 4 years also.

The bottom 1/3 of the lineup would need to surprise (although the first six might carry them and take the pressure off) but I wouldn't be totally displeased with a lineup like:

2B  Escobar

RF Calhoun

CF Trout

LF  Cespedes

1B  Pujols

DH Cron

3B  Cowart/Kubitza

C   Perez

SS Simmons

Pujols at 5, lol dream on.

"Cowart/Kubitza" is not an actual player under contract for the Angels. For all those that want to slide Escobar to 2B and replace Freese at 3B, you should at least be willing to propose one or the other.

For a semi-anonymous internet board filled with random opinions, it seems lazy not to have one here. Make up your minds. Do you want to go with Kaleb Cowart or Kyle Kubitza at 3B?

Cowart can't hit MLB pitching and Kubitza isn't very good defensively, so people think a platoon fixes that.

Cowart would be my choice between the two. He's the only one that has proven to have a major league skill set, it just happens to be defense and this team needs offense.

Not if Cowart is going to struggle to hit above the mendoza line.
